April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July, began taking guitar and piano lessons at age seven. The passion for writing songs was ignited. In the seventh grade, April began taking guitar and piano classes. This ignited her interest in writing songs. At 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her musicianship skills. Soon after she began taking excursions to write with her father in NY and LA. April began also to incorporate additional topics that were related to of her peers who are dealing in the area of social pressure and teen suicide in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned clean beauty company Ilia. Her birth was without a left hand. It's an aspect of her identity, but this isn't the whole truth. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on Instagram, but she isn't making it the focal point of her story. It's a message. We all have multiple aspects of identities and we're greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart said via video that she doesn't wish to be defined by her handicap. She doesn't want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about disability. There are many aspects to Lockhart. And it doesn't affect my day-to-day life I do things normally, and I've discovered my own way to adjust things. But it's also a part of me so I think it's important to talk about. Lockhart inspires us to keep going with self-acceptance. Yet, she confesses having moments of feeling uneasy about her appearance as well as wearing clothes with arms. She wears what she likes and posts photos of herself wearing the clothes she picks out on social media. It's a journey is the most important thing. I'm not certain that it will be an end about self-love. This is true for everyone, regardless of how much they are afraid. It's important to have people that know and appreciate your situation. They will be the ones who ask you: What do you fret about?
